The Link Academy is part of Landau Forte Academy Amington in Tamworth. It accommodates up to 18 students from 11 – 16 years of age, usually with emotional and/or behavioural difficulties which may lead to disruption and poor progress in normal lessons. The Link therefore provides an alternative to Permanent Exclusion which research clearly shows is usually detrimental to the life chances of children.
The Link Academy is not intended to be a permanent arrangement for the students and their provision is reviewed regularly with the aim of reintegrating the students with mainstream lessons.
Provision
Every young person has the right to an education. Therefore, each student has a bespoke but rigorous curriculum designed to meet their own needs and aspirations.
The provision is full time and includes English, Mathematics, Science, PSHE and RE as well as specialist qualifications in GCSEs and/or vocational subjects at KS4. This is supplemented by enrichment activities in cookery and PE plus regular work experience. Students have access to the main building to support the delivery of some of these lessons.
