Our ref: 2021/019/AND/SAF
8th October 2021
Dear Parent/Carer,
I am pleased to write to you as we approach the end of a brilliant first half-term of the academic year. We have so much to celebrate and our wonderful students continue to excel with their talent, determination and high aspirations.
Unfortunately, we have been advised by Staffordshire Local Authority that we should re-implement some Covid-19 safety measures. This is due to an increase of Covid-19 cases across the local area and is designed to ensure the risk of transmission is as low as possible on site.
The safety measures are similar to the previous system we had in place, which proved incredibly effective at stopping the spread of Covid-19 within the academy. The measures to be implemented from Monday 11th October are as follows:
- Students and staff are advised to wear face coverings in corridors and communal areas.
- Whole year group assemblies to be delivered virtually through MS Teams.
- Close contacts of a PCR positive case will be informed, advised to book a PCR test and remain at home until the result of the test is returned negative.
These measures are in addition to the enhanced cleaning, hand hygiene guidance and the staggered start and finish to the academy day, all of which we have maintained since our return to the academy in August.
In addition, we are continuing to ask that all students be tested at home for Covid-19 twice weekly as per the Lateral Flow testing information we have sent out previously. If you have any questions about the testing process, please do contact the academy office and we would be delighted to help you.
In a change to our calendar, next Friday 15th October will now be used as one of our allocated Staff Development Days which means that the final day of this half-term will be Thursday 14th October.
It has been a pleasure to speak with many of you in person following the easing of Covid-19 restrictions and I look forward to meeting with you at the first parent drop-in session which takes place on Wednesday 13th October from 16.30-17.30. These drop-in sessions are valuable as it provides the opportunity for parents, carers and members of the community to speak directly with me in order for us to work together to make the academy the best it can be.
Once again, thank you for your continued support.
Yours sincerely,
Mr A Deen
Principal
