Non-Uniform Day this Friday

For a £1 donation, students can wear non-uniform for Red Nose Day, Friday, 24 March.

Key Stage 4 Curriculum

The Academy aims to provide a high quality curriculum pathway, tailored to the personal needs of each student. This pathway is designed to enable progression after Year 11 to either A levels, further vocational education or employment with training.

The Core

All students will study a Core Curriculum of GCSE English Language, GCSE English Literature, GCSE Mathematics, GCSE Core Science, GCSE Additional Science (GCSEs Biology, Chemistry, Physics from Year 10 2016-2017), BTEC Science (current Y11 only) PSHE, Core Moral Studies and Core PE.

Optional GCSE Subjects

Supplementing the Core is a wide suite of GCSEs:

  • Art (Design, Textiles or Graphic Communication)
  • Business Studies
  • Dance
  • Drama
  • Food
  • French (extra-curricular)
  • Geography
  • History
  • ICT or Computer Science
  • Performing Arts
  • Product Design
  • Philosophy & Ethics
  • Resistant Materials
  • Physics (current Y10 and Y11 only)
  • Chemistry (current Y10 and Y11 only)
  • Biology (current Y10 and Y11 only)
  • Spanish

GCSEs in Physics, Chemistry and Biology will be part of the Core curriculum from August 2016

Vocational Subjects

For those students who benefit from a more vocational approach, the Academy offers a series of BTECs and Cambridge Nationals which can be studied alongside GCSEs:

  • Health & Social Care (Cambridge National)
  • Music (BTEC)
  • Sport (Cambridge National)
  • Dance (BTEC)

Plus other GCSEs offered in Enrichment Time.

Year 10

As your child progresses through Year 10 and into Year 11  they will be faced with many different expectations and challenges.  We know that in order for your child to be successful they will need support from the Academy and yourselves at home.
