23 March 2021
Dear Parent/Carer
I am pleased to report that our students have settled wonderfully back into on-site education and I am sure you will agree that following the enormous disruption of the past year, it is a relief to return to something close to normality. It is incredibly uplifting for all of our staff to have our students back in the building and we look forward to a productive and uninterrupted period of learning prior to the summer break.
You may be aware that in the final week of remote education, Amington was routinely inspected by Ofsted. The focus of the inspection was our provision in the current circumstances. I am delighted to report that the inspection was extremely positive, confirming the Academy’s rapid improvement journey and the report, which is now live on our website, will provide confidence in the quality of education at Amington for all parents, carers and the entire community we serve. Some highlights from the report are as follows:
- ‘Leaders and those responsible for governance are taking effective action to provide education in the current circumstances.’
- ‘feedback from both parents and pupils is overwhelmingly positive’
- All staff have ‘high expectations’
- ‘Leaders acted swiftly and decisively … to put in place new curriculum plans for each subject’
- ‘Leaders continue to support Year 11 pupils well’
I wish to thank all of those families who responded to the Ofsted questionnaire; our Governors, including our parent Governors; our brilliant teachers and support staff; our Trust colleagues; and of course I wish to thank our amazing students. Together we were able to present to Ofsted the considerable evidence of our Academy improvement journey and I am sure like us, you will be pleased with the outcome of the inspection. We will of course learn from the feedback received to continue our journey with a firm intent to become an outstanding Academy.
Thank you to the overwhelming majority of families who have consented to their children being part of the lateral flow Covid-19 testing, which is an important element of our risk reduction for students and staff. As you will know, lateral flow testing is increasingly common in many workplaces and throughout education, with all staff and families asked to continue to self-test twice weekly following the initial tests on-site. It is encouraging that I am able to report that since our return on the 8th March, we have had no positive test outcomes. Even as more of the community is vaccinated and the prevalence of the virus is reduced, we will continue to follow our safety protocols until otherwise directed by the Government in order to continue to play our part in the national effort to overcome the impact of Covid-19.
As always, we are committed to doing our very best for every student.
Yours sincerely,
Mr A Deen
Principal
