Dear Parents/Carers
As we reach the end of the academic year can I firstly take the opportunity to thank you for everything you have done to support your child and the academy throughout the pandemic. For many parents and carers this has meant having to juggle your own work life whilst supporting your child to positively and consistently engage with our remote learning provision. Having experienced this first hand through the periods of lockdown, I completely understand the challenges that this year has presented to many families. I sincerely hope that the new academic year will be free from disruption and all students will experience uninterrupted learning in the academy.
As you may be aware, the Department for Education have instructed that all secondary age students should receive two on-site lateral flow Covid-19 tests prior to the full return of all students in the new academic year. To allow time and capacity for the possibility of on-site Covid-19 testing, please find below the staggered return dates for students following the summer break:
If government guidance continues to instruct all schools to Covid-19 test all students prior to returning after the summer break, I will write to you again later in the summer with specific dates, times and testing protocols. Staff will be available on the first day of the new year, as we are every day, to direct students to their academy entrance point.
An important factor in the scheduling of our return has been to provide two full days of transition for our new year 7 students. We believe it is important for our new students to have time to acclimatise to their new surroundings, meet their new teachers and experience moving around a new building prior to the return of all other year groups.
The recent edition of our newsletter, Community, celebrated so many of the fantastic achievements and accomplishments of our wonderful students. If you have yet to read our newsletter, it is available electronically on our website.
I am also pleased to report that our annual sports day was a wonderful occasion. It was lovely to watch our students competing and cheering on one another in glorious sunshine and the day was an extremely positive end to the year.
Once again, thank you for your patience as all students, parents, carers, teachers, support staff and our entire community have done their very best in these highly unusual times which have effected every school across the entire country. Despite the challenges, our wonderful students have made us proud with their positive attitudes and enormous resilience.
I look forward to working with you in the new academic year.
Yours sincerely,
Mr A Deen
Principal
