Dear parents and carers,
As we reach the end of the spring term it is clear that we have a great deal to celebrate.
Our hard working Year 11 students continue to make us proud by putting in the extra hours of holiday and weekend intervention sessions; our sports teams are back up and running with a full set of fixtures; a number of our students have successfully completed Duke of Edinburgh awards; our student leadership team continue to meet weekly and are increasingly high profile in the academy; our Year 9 students are preparing for their Key Stage 4 journey following our pathways evening; and finally our fantastic Performing Arts team and amazing student performers provided us with the magnificent We Will Rock You show which was received to great acclaim.
The standard of the performances was truly extraordinary and all of us at the academy and those of you from the community who were lucky enough to be in the audience, are tremendously proud of every student who worked so hard to make the show such a great success. We are very proud of every one of you!
Following the latest Government guidance, we will no longer expect students or staff to routinely test themselves for Covid-19. However, can I please remind you of the following key points to ensure that everyone remains as safe as possible:
– Children with mild symptoms such as a runny nose, sore throat, or mild cough, who are otherwise well, can continue to attend school.
– Children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and where possible avoid contact with other people. They can go back to school when they no longer have a high temperature, and they are well enough.
– If a child or young person has a positive COVID-19 test result they should try to stay at home and where possible avoid contact with other people for 3 days after the day they took the test. The risk of passing the infection on to others is much lower after 3 days if they feel well and do not have a high temperature.
– Children and young people who live with someone who has a positive COVID-19 test result should continue to attend as normal.
As we enter the summer term we would like to remind students and families about our uniform expectations. As previously communicated, all students should attend every day in full academy uniform, a list of which can be found on our website. When students have PE or Dance they should bring their full academy kit and change at school. Please can I emphasise that hoodies are not part of the academy uniform and must not be worn in the academy. Thank you to all of the families who support us by ensuring your child is dressed appropriately for school every day.
We continue to provide a pastoral focus on healthy relationships, sexual harassment and antibullying. Our strong and experienced pastoral leaders are working effectively to support all of our students to ensure every child has a positive experience every academy day. In addition, we have commissioned the Loudmouth group, who work with schools across the country, to provide bespoke workshops and presentations for our students so that we continue to emphasise the importance of healthy relationships. This important work is in addition to the interventions provided by our Academy Counsellor and Family Support Worker who are implementing much needed urgent support for students and families in our community who do not have access to support from local government services. We will continue to do everything we can to ensure all of our students have the opportunity to be healthy and make strong academic progress.
As we look ahead to the summer term we have so much to look forward to including our trip to Seville, sports day, and the final crucial weeks at the academy for our Year 11 students. I am also pleased to share that we will be once again oversubscribed with new Year 7 students in September and we look forward to welcoming our students, parents, and carers for our transition events which will be publicised shortly.
The academy term will finish for all students on Friday 8th April at 12.30 and we welcome all students back for the summer term on Monday 25th April.
All of us at LFA Amington are extremely proud of our wonderful students and once again, thank you for your support.
Yours sincerely,
Mr A Deen
Principal
