Ahead of the general election on 4th July, Amington will hold a mock election for our students on Wednesday 3rd July! 🗳️
Why are we doing this?
❔ Understanding Democracy: Mock elections provide students with a practical understanding of democratic processes. This first-hand experience helps them comprehend how elections work, the importance of voting, and the role of different political parties in a democracy.
🧠 Critical Thinking: Discussing diverse political views encourages students to evaluate different perspectives, make informed decisions, and develop their own opinions.
👥 Civic Responsibility: Participating in a mock election instils a sense of civic duty, highlighting the importance of being an active participant in democracy.
As we prepare for the general election, we are committed to political impartiality in our teaching, ensuring students can form their own views while understanding and respecting different opinions. We present various perspectives fairly, avoiding bias, to help students develop informed political beliefs and understand the world around them. We have established clear ground rules for discussions to maintain a respectful and open environment, that prevents and addresses any form of harassment or discrimination. 🌍
